One Less Woman in F1…

Monisha Kaltenborn Sauber’s team principle has left the team. This is a sad day for the role of women in formula one. Kaltenborn was the sports first and only female team principle. Williams is run by Claire Williams but her official title is deputy team principle. Kaltenborn was not seeing eye-to-eye with the owners of the team Longbow Finance. The Finance group took over the team last July. It seems very odd for a team boss to leave days away from a race weekend. It is unclear at the moment whether Kalterborn left and was asked to leave. I will update this post when I find out more information.

Other news…

The drivers and teams are making their way to Baku ahead of this weekend’s race. Felipe Massa uploaded a video to his Instagram story of him boarding a private plane to fly out to Azerbaijan. Many other drivers were on board all flying out together. Daniel Riccardo, Daniil Kvyat, Max Verstappen, Stoffel Vandoorne, Nico Hulkenburg and former racing driving now channel 4 presenter David Coulthard were all on board.
